We need your help to train computers to recognize and measure the equine face. In comes citizen science! The equine citizen science platform invites animal owners to video horses during naturally occurring "pain" and "no pain" scenarios, and submit them to our database. This will facilitate computer learning and accuracy through a large data set that has been annotated by certified FACS coders.
We encourage you to video your horse remotely during a quiet time of the day in good light, when not being fed. Follow the protocol below.
Then collect video when your horse is experiencing natural pain such as lameness at the walk, colic pain or pain from a laceration or kick. This can be done at the same time as veterinary intervention. Send these labeled videos to us as detailed in the links below:
