Current Equine Genetic Studies

Last updated: 12/18/2017

The UC Davis Center for Equine Health has funded projects aimed at identifying genetic mutations for specific equine diseases. Investigators studying these diseases are actively recruiting DNA samples (typically a hair sample or blood sample) from horses affected with these conditions. Please be advised that, in order to accurately diagnose these diseases, researchers may require information from your veterinarian to support the diagnosis. For certain diseases, funding is available to assist with the diagnosis through veterinary examinations at UC Davis. If you would like to submit a sample, please e-mail the Center for Equine Health and we will put you in contact with the researcher. For projects under Dr. Rebecca Bellone, please contact her directly.
